My purpose for sharing this information with you is to bring to light unhealthy, manipulative and controlling practices in spiritually abusive ministries and churches like Centro Cristiano Apostolico Casa De Dios Inc in Brownsville, Texas (TX). A common characteristic of an abusive religious system is that the real needs of the people are ignored and the unquenchable thirst for power from the pastor, leaders and directors a like reigns supreme. In other words, money is a representation of power and to obtain power/money they need control. Therefore, don’t be surprise when they use unbiblical and questionable practices like lying and manipulating donors to earn more and more money. A controlling pastor, leader or directors will instill a sense of obligation by reminding his congregation of everything he has done for them. Even further, some pastors preach spiritual authority so much that the pastor actually begins to take the place of Jesus in people’s lives. This kind of manipulation will destroy people spiritually. The pastor takes it personally when members want to leave the church, many times the pastor will present a former member with a fee for all his services rendered. Accusations are commonly made against a former member’s character, labeling them as “evil, demon possess, rebellious, and a worldly person”. In addition, other members are strongly discouraged from having any contact with the former member and are told they cannot leave the church with G-D’s blessing unless the pastor approves the decision. Unhealthy churches have little to no respect for other denomination or church groups. If the pastor or leaders finds out that a member was thinking of visiting another church they will call that member and chastised them reminding them that they are the only church with superiority doctrine. The L-rd Jesus wants us to live in freedom and not in fear. “Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.” Galatians 5:1 “Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you. 2 Corinthians 6:17
