My name is Guy Carroll and I am a person who is disabled and struggles with mental illness.I am writing to you because I feel I have no recourse in the situation that I am suffer from schitzoaffective disorder and extreme anxiety, A year ago I wouldn’t even leave my house or go for a walk for fear of people following me and wanting to cause me harm . I work with a case manager from BSU and a case manager from OVR and a therapist I meet with weekly along with a psychiatrist that monitors my medications and general mental well being.Through very hard work and diligence I worked through a lot of my issues and found myself able to ride a public bus for the first time, go to the store and begin living a “normal” life.Iworked even harder to realize my dream of continuing my education as an adult and went through all the necessary steps to get the proper grants and qualifications for OVR and enrolled at CPI in the structural welding program.I have excelled with my lowest grade being an 84 percent with mostly 100’s on other exams.my grants far exceeded the tuition costs which means that I am supposed to be getting a refund disbursement.my OVR councellor had told me that I would be getting a check on Friday 10/13/17 so as I am on a limited income and had to borrow money for the necessary books and tools which exceeded 500$ more than half my monthly stipend (my rent alone is 700$)I inquired every source possible at cpi as , I spoke with financial aid, I tried the business office. Itried the adult education dept. but to no avail they told me there were no funds from ovr . my ovr councellor had told me explicitly that they had the money and had 14 days to get it to me.at this point my anxiety had kicked in I kept asking them it is part of my mental illness I felt like I was not wanted there by the way they were treating me , very rude and dismissive I voice recorded every conversation on my cell phone and there are cameras everywhere to capture any kind of aggressive or threatening behavior.after school today I got a call from my ovr councellor saying that she was mistaken I would NOT be getting a check and in fact I owe the school money and above all else they said I was aggressive and threatening all of which I have voice recorded and the cameras don’t lie.i was having extreme anxiety and panic attacks and the way I was treated by the faculty at cpi was totally unprofessional I am registered there with disability services and no one came to aid me.all I want to do is fulfill my dream of a fresh start at a new life and I feel that they don’t want me there my therapist ,my bsu case manager my psychiatrist and my probation officer will all vouch that I am not an aggressive or threatening person I was having symptoms of my mental illness and I feel that they no longer want me to attend school because I nagged them about money I was TOLD I would be getting by someone on my support team that I trusted who didn’t have her facts correct .i in no way raised my voice ,used arm gestures ,slammed doors or anything of the like I just wanted was due to me .financial aid gave me incorrect answers as did adult education.what was I to think?i used no inappropriate language made no threats simply stated my plans to let people like you know my situation how is it legal for them to expel me on the basis that I am disabled and they don’t like me because I was trying to follow a money trail?ovr is the office of vocational rehabilation ,bsu is base service unit my workers are helen shapira for bsu ,Shannon singer from ovr who gave me the incorrect info ron Benton from financial aid ,todd taylor vice president of cpi(the boss)he already tried ton get me kicked out because I’m on a lot of medication luann Bruno who really has it out for me and ive done NOTHING to these people but try to find my money.I have a huge test tomorrow and I’m so upset I cant even concentrate to study.please if you have any advice whatsoever or can help in anyway I would be eternally grateful I just want to learn and get off disability and become part of Americas skilled workforce.thank youo for your patience and taking the time to read this
