This organization has been constantly mismanaged by its founder, who must have "hands on" every activity, no matter how small. While some services are delivered, other services such as free bikes and a bike rental program supported by Huffy are not necessary or beneficial to the organization's ministry objectives. Having only three paid employees, it is obvious that this organization relies on unpaid volunteers, which upon my visit recently were almost non-existent. Service hours were down to three hours a day on only three days a week. When asked for a copy of the organization's annual statement, none was produced. It appears that this organization may be on its last legs and is living on the interest of it previous year's donations and receipts.
With the exclusion of a few "life classes" the claim of serving 350 people weekly is by far exaggerated. The expenditures for a "bike safety course" do not meet any of the objectives of meeting the needs of the community as a ministry.
This used to be a vibrant ministry back in 2000 before its "new management" took over and dissolved its relationship with many of its former donors- who also provided hundreds of volunteers. Since then, it has lost its focus.
It is sad to see an organization that I was once proud to be associated with, be so disorganized and failing to meet the needs of the community with the exception of handing out free food- which is the bulk of their gifts I believe.
